Shahid Kapoor's Statement 'I Need To Figure Out This New Club That I've Entered' Misconstrued; Source Close To Actor Clarifies
A recent article suggests that after the humongous success of Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is now trying to fit into the club of Bollywood biggies. A source close to Shahid Kapoor clarified he has been misconstrued for the same
Earlier, a report was carried which read that Shahid Kapoor,
who is currently basking in the success of Kabir Singh, had said that he still
feels like an outsider, and is trying to figure out how he fits in the new
Bollywood group. Since the time he entered the industry, Shahid hasn't been
seen at the typical Bollywood parties and has always kept a distance from the
Bollywood tribes. But lately, he was spotted hanging out with his
contemporaries like Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan.
On the cover story of GQ India's August 2019 issue, the magazine quoted Shahid about the same, “I kind of feel like I don't belong here, I feel like a newcomer. I need to figure out this new room, and this new club that I've entered. Even though I've been here for 15-16 years, it's not my comfort zone, I need to get my head around it. I can't (afford to) feel like I know exactly what's going on, and exactly what I need to do next. So, I'm trying to keep it simple, and eventually, I'll go with my instinct and my gut.”
Now, a source close to Shahid Kapoor clarifies that the actor has been in the industry for 16 years and is a senior and did not mean to say what was printed. In fact, GQ misquoted the actor, the source said, “Shahid has been in the industry for close to 16 years, so it is out of the question that he would feel uncomfortable with his peers. He was talking in the context of the size and success of the film and the kind of footfalls it has generated, which is still something that continues to overwhelm him. He doesn't take the success of the film for granted. In no way did his statement have anything to do with him being in a room with his co-actors or people from the film fraternity."
With Kabir Singh inching towards Rs 300 crore mark, Shahid
Kapoor has given 2019 its biggest blockbuster.
